Bonsai alternative
A Bonsai alternative for when you only need invoices.
Bonsai bundles proposals, contracts, a CRM and bookkeeping into one paid suite. When the only piece you reach for is invoices and receipts, the rest of that suite, and its monthly fee, is weight you are carrying for nothing. Invoice No. handles that one piece free in the browser.

The trade-off
Where is Bonsai the better choice?
Bonsai wins as a full freelance business suite. It writes proposals and contracts, runs a CRM and client portal, and handles payments and light bookkeeping. If you only need to send invoices and get paid, that is a lot of extra product to carry. We stay focused on the documents.
Proposals and contracts
Bonsai drafts proposals and lawyer-vetted contracts, e-signature included. We do neither.
CRM and client portal
A CRM, a deals pipeline and a client portal all come with Bonsai. We keep a simple customer book and leave it at that.
Payments and bookkeeping
Bonsai collects payments and tracks income and expenses so tax time hurts less. We make documents, full stop, with no payment processing and no books.

Two ways to work
What is the difference between Quick mode and Projects mode?
Quick mode stays flat and fast, built for high-volume billing, with an item library, photo proof, partial payments and customer statements. Projects mode files every quote, invoice and receipt under the right client and project, with per-project rollups for quoted, invoiced and paid. Choose one at signup and switch later in Settings.
Fast and high-volume.
Built for speed. A first invoice takes about 90 seconds, and the recipient is optional, so "Walk-in customer" is fine.
- Item library for repeat work
- Photo attachments as proof of work
- Partial-payment logging and customer statements
Organised by project.
A proper client, project and document structure for people who bill by project and want every total to roll up where it belongs.
- Per-project rollups: quoted, invoiced, paid
- Everything under the right client
- Quote, invoice and receipt in one thread
